Favorite pony/ponies?

May as well try and nudge the brony forums into life, eh? Which ponies are your favorites? (My thoughts about the personalities for the mane 6 aren't unconventional, but in case you haven't heard the hypothesis before: each of the girls represents one or more broad personality 'types' that would appeal to a wedge of the demographic pie. Thus even if a viewer had only mild interest in the events of the episodes themselves their interest in the character they identify with personally would keep them coming back.)

AJ and Fluttershy come out on top for me.

I've loved Applejack since the pilot, and there are a few reasons I've identified.

She's tomboy-ish, but wasn't obnoxious/aggressive like I felt Rainbow Dash was. She's practical, and doesn't care for all the girly frilly things other mares might.

She's maternal, protective, always trying to keep her friends together and resolve conflicts. The paladin of the group, for sure.

Her accent is cute as the d---ens. She's the only pony with a cozy family-life for us to observe. Everyone else has either distanced themselves from their families, or deals with them only occasionally, like Rarity/Sweetiebelle. Heck, isn't she the only pony that actually lives with other ponies? Unless Pinkie Pie actually lives at Sugarcube corner with the Cakes. Sweetie-belle I'm not entirely clear on... Sometimes it seems she lives with Rarity, but I'm pretty sure she only visits.

She can kick you over the barn. She runs the Apple family business. Strong female characters ftw.

She probably has some of the best-developed flaws. Stubborn, over-protective, a worry-wort... Flaws make a character interesting.

I like apples, and autumn, and she embodies both quite well. Sweet Apple Acres reminds me of a farm I spent a weekend on as part of a bonding experience with my college's equivalent of a 'homeroom' when I was a freshman. We had to trek out into the woods the first day, build our own shelter for the night out of tarps, twine and sticks, that kind of thing. The next day we did farm chores, mucking out stalls, crushing apples for cider, feeding chickens, etc. It was a pleasant time, and I've had other lovely trips since then in or around apple orchards for festivals and such, reinforcing the good feelings associated with such spots.


Fluttershy's appeal is simpler. She's an introvert like myself, loves animals, doesn't really fit in with the rest of the pegasi, and is industrial-strength adorable.

`Mane 6: Pinkie pie - Always love the comic relief! Her possibilities and abilities in fan fiction, cannon, and just plain wondering"...why are you?" is very refreshing to see in the new toons of today.
Princess: Luna - Dark, mysterious, and misunderstood, a classic favorite to many and I especially! Her episodes in season 4 are going to answer soooo many questions!! I hope...Studio B I'm looking at you....
Secondary: Joe - Because he would look good in a tux! :3
Background: Snow flake and or Lyra Heartstrings - YEAAAHH!!
Villain: Discord - For fellow discord fans; self explanatory
CMC: Applebloom - Because face.
Pet: Winona - Well she was a boss herding dem critters!

`tailswish did a great job of explaining that the mane 6 represent a huge chunk of personality of potential viewers. So in reality, I can relate to most of them.

Still, it's a bit trying to choose just one favorite. In reality, Pinkie could probably be a bit of a handful. She's so hyper being on a constant sugar rush, from being around cupcakes and candy so often on top of be extremely happy. She jumps around and lets the world know how she feels. Don't get me wrong, happy ponies or people are fun to be around, and I love chaos and those who stand out. I'd love to learn her ways.

I live with my sister who is exactly like Rarity, down to the "perfect looks" and even the sewing. My first impression of rarity was, she's going to be a snob, little Miss Perfect. This proves not to judge a book by its cover. The writers probably considered this when giving her the element of generosity.

My favorite is probably Rainbow Dash. As an athlete, you look for competition and strive to be the best. Ponies and people alike quest out and seek to be with their own kind. But since my life isn't completely dominated by games and competition, I can be friends with everyone (like Pinkie). Variety is always good!
